Sultan Qaboos's extravaganza

The Sultan of Oman is literally worshipped every day in Oman. Everday people
there repeat how good he is and how much he has done, without really thinking about it. They should realize that Oman has a lot of oil and most of it is wasted by the top few members of the government.

Just look at the quality of housing for the poor, it's ridiculously poor for a country as rich as Oman. Although it has a population of only 3 million the country is still relati
vely poor compared to countries with similar GDP. Most of the housing projects are just for the foreigners and it's suffice to say that money from such projects are only going to increase the inequality and turn the poor Omanis into slaves for the foreign affluent tourists.

Now have a look at the ways in which the government wastes billions of dollars.

Buying the
worlds second largest yacht-which is moored at Mutrah port- is the latest example of mismanagement of wealth. This is a luxury yacht not a military yacht as common people might expect. Some people are brainwashed to believe that its there to protect Oman from foreign invasion! According to official handout for the 155m Royal yacht AlSaid the Sultan purchased the "to symbolize the continous prosperity" that Oman is experiencing. What prosperity is Oman experiencing except the ridiculous wealth gained by the very few?

Keep in mind that the Sultan has other super ya
chts from the 1980s. Like the super yacht Alsaid the mega yacht Fulk al Salamah (136m) was built in the worlds most expensive shipyard in Bremen. Fulk al Salamah - which means ship of peac
e/safety- was built around 1987.

The Sultan has another yacht: The 103.9m Loloat al Behar (ex Al Said) which was built at Picchitti yard in Italy in 1982. This "Tiny yacht" was lent to Dick Cheney when he visited Oman in 2007. The picture below shows Loloat al Behar and the bow of Fulk al Salamah (left) along with two other yachts which belongs to his Royal Yacht Squadron.

With so many mega yachts, he needs a matching tug boat: The 33.5m Al-Noores which was built at a Dutch shipyard in 2001.

The collection of Jumbo jets complements his collection of mega yachts. His private Boeing 747-430 which he got in April 2004.

Then there's the Boeing 747SP-27 which was added in March 1989.

Royal Flight in Airbus A320-233 which he got January 2005.

As you would expect there are large collection of cars and seven known palaces in Oman.

Palace in Barka is a beach front estate compromising an area of 3 sq km! It has 6 helipads, an infinity pool and large palatial establishments in splendid gardens.

Another beach front Palatial estate: Hisn Salalah with 4 helipads, lots of villas and direct connection to the airport.

Then there's this palace in Salalah named: Qasr Al Mamoorah with its own airport, many swimming pools along with large palaces and a superb garden.
