The Chair Green Economy and Resources Governances, in collaboration with the IGLUS (Innovative Governance of Large Urban Systems,www.iglus.org), announces the opening of a PhD position on the governance challenges of the urban circular economy. The project will investigate the governance of the re-use of used materials (such as recycling or waste to energy projects). Such re-use has started in some urban areas, often thanks to the initiative of citizens and private firms, but it is often slowed down because of lacking or inexistent regulations and un-adapted governance structures. The urban circular economy indeed needs the creation of innovative governance systems that allows actors to work together towards more efficient and sustainable solutions. The successful PhD candidate will study, among others, business models, technological transitions, power and agency as well as citizen involvement as contributions to an Urban Circular Economy.
