Simple Solution to Sultanate's flood splash.

The Sultanate of Oman is flooded with when ever it rains. Some year the flash flood is more devastating than the others.

This flood occurs because the excessive rain water don't have a place to go. The drains were not constructed when the city was built, this aspect turns the roads into rivers when ever it floods.

The problem is that constructing the drains is too expensive and time consuming. So its not the most effective solution to control flash floods.

We must look at alternatives.



Constructing several small scale lakes in the rain water's path and in valleys will store the excessive rain water and prevent it from spilling and hence flooding.




This method is far cheaper than constructing drains by drilling through the layers and layers of hard rock mountains and already built up roads.

In addition to that there's the advantage of offering year round access to irrigation water, this will reduce the pressure on the government to offer irrigation water and hence reduce their cost.


Lets cooperate to solve the Flash Flooding in Oman and preven another US $4billion loss before it rains again. We can get started by building lakes in places like Al-Khod Dam as shown in the map below:
