1km+ tall Kingdom Tower in Jeddah

Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) said the truth and the proof is that he said among the signs of the Hour mentioned by the Noble Messenger of Allah – Allah bless and greet him and his Family and Companions – in Sahih al-Bukhari is “when the destitute (al-buhm) camelherds compete in building tall structures.” Another version in al-Bukhari has: “when the barefoot and the naked are the top leaders (lit. “heads”) of the people.” In Sahih Muslim: “you shall see the barefoot, naked, indigent (al-`âla) shepherds compete in building tall structures.” Another version in Muslim states: “when the naked and barefoot are the top leaders of the people.” A third version in Muslim has: “when you see that the barefoot and naked, the deaf and dumb are the kings of the earth.”

Ibn Hajar said in commenting this passage of the hadith in Fath al-Bari: It was said that “bear-foot and naked,” “deaf and dumb” are their attributes by way of hyperbole, showing how coarse they are. That is, they did not use their hearing or sight in anything concerning their Religion even though they are of perfectly sound senses. The Prophet’s (saws) words: “The heads of the people” means the kings of the earth. Abu Farwas’ narration names the kings explicitly. What is meant by them is the people of the desert country, as was made explicit in Sulayman al-Taymi’s and other narrations: “Who are the barefoot and naked?” He answered: “The Bedouin Arabs.”

Al-Tabarani relates through Abu Hamza, on the authority of Ibn `Abbas from the Prophet Muhammad, sallahu alayhi wa sallam, that “one of the signs of the change of the Religion is the affectation of eloquence by the rabble and their betaking to palaces in big cities.” Al-Qurtubi said: “What is meant here is the prediction of a reversal in society whereby the people of the desert country will take over the conduct of affairs and rule every region by force. They will become extremely rich and their primary concern will be to erect tall building and take pride in them. We have witnessed this in our time as well as the import of the hadith: “The hour will
not rise until the happiest man will be the depraved son of a depraved father (lukka` ibn lukka`),” and also “if the leadership is entrusted to those unfit for it, then
expect the hour,” both found in the authentic collections.”

Umaar bin al-Khataab (RA) said: "We were the most disgraced of people, and Allah granted us honor with Islam. No matter how much we seek honor in other than that
which Allah honored us with, Allah shall disgrace us (once again)."

Australia develops most environmentally friendly Helicopter

Australia is making a new history in aviation by developing affordable environmentally friendly helicopters.

As we know it Helicopters are handy little vehicles, they can hover and they can land in difficult to reach places and in congested areas. However there are a lot of disadvantages with current helicopter design.

They are noisy, and they are enormous gas guzzlers (a Bell 206 L4 helicopter travels just 1.47 km per litre - a family car travels 10-13kms per litre.) When their tail rotors fail the chopper goes out of control usually resulting in a crash landing. They're complex to control, extensive training is required. It is easier to learn to fly an aeroplane than a helicopter. Helicopters vibrate. An unadjusted helicopter can easily vibrate so much that it will shake itself apart.

Coaxial rotor helicopters can solve a lot of these problems but up till now they've been so expensive and technical that only the military has been able to afford them. Coaxial rotors are a pair of rotors turning in opposite directions, but mounted on a mast, with the same axis of rotation.

The Co-axial counter rotating helicopter offers considerable advantages over traditional models:

The absence of a tail rotor with the inclusion of a coaxial main rotor makes these craft more stable, more manoeuvrable, quieter, safer and provides a better power to weight ratio. The rotor system has greater lift and is much more efficient than traditional helicopters.

Technological advances and a lot of research and development have allowed the Wieland Helicopter Company to build a coaxial counter rotating helicopter that is competitive in the civilian market. Running costs, particularly with the electric motor version, are significantly lower than traditional helicopters.

Since the WHT range of helicopters are much easier to control and to fly, pilot training is much simpler and therefore takes a lot less time and money to complete.

The electric version of the helicopter will be powered by batteries that run an electric motor to turn the co-axial rotors

Worlds most Advanced Electric Car- Nur Majan from Oman

Nur Majan: first electric car in Oman and one of the most innovative in the world

Sultan bin Hamad al Aamri, CEO, Nur Majan, has said his company is still waiting for permission from the Royal Oman Police to manufacture the first electric car in the Arab world to be named “Nur Majan”.

He said initial approvals had been obtained earlier from government bodies concerned including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Environment and Climatic Affairs.

He said the company will build its factory in Barka and plans to produce around 120 cars annually at a total cost of RO 16.2 million.

The electrically powered vehicle to be made by the company will be environment-friendly. It will need its first maintenance only after 21 years from the time of purchase, he claimed.

The car can go from zero km to 100 kms in 4 seconds and gets 3,600 kilometres per charge.
The cooling system is operable 24 hours a day by solar cell panels.

After the company starts manufacturing, three cars will be sent to Florida for safety testing and certification, the CEO said.

Sultan bin Hamad al Aamri the CEO of Nur Majan- previously a high end watch maker.

Sultan bin Hamad al Amri was destined to do big things from childhood. He proved his prodigy by making a car at the age of 16.

Interestingly, the CEO of Nur Majan achieved this fete though he had no formal training in the science. Sultan, who claims to be the first watch manufacturer in the Gulf region, showed a newspaper clipping of an Arabic daily, featuring his rare achievement in his teens.

“I always wanted to set up a company which would work on new designs just like the Japanese and European companies do.”

This passion to come out with some thing new has taken Sultan to tread on a path, which is less travelled by others. If all goes well, the 41 year old watch maker will hit the stands with his new electric car by 2014.

“In 2008, I saw the Indian electric car Reva. I was not impressed with its design and the performance. At that point, I seriously thought of making a car and sought the help of a Jordanian engineer and visited car plants in Japan and the US.”

Since then there was no looking back for Sultan. He has already got the preliminary approvals for manufacturing the car from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs in Oman. He is now waiting for the green signal from the ROP, who will test-drive the car.

On his part, Sultan is progressing well with his dream car. “Most of the work for the car’s body and the engine is done. We will start the exterior design soon. The car will be ready for testing next year,” said Sultan. Nur Majan – the proposed name of the car and name of the company – will build ten cars initially.

Of which, three will be sent to Florida in the US for accident testing and three will be given to various ministries in Oman for testing. Once he secures the nod from concerned authorities, Sultan plans to gift a car to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Nur Majan plans to make 120 cars per year, costing RO30,000 to RO35,000.

In 1999, he started making watches under the company name Bar Majan. However, he rechristened it as Nur Majan in 2001 – the name of his youngest daughter. The first watch manufacturing company of the Gulf had the sultanate’s map as its design.

Currently, the company has copyrights for 157 watch designs. The price ranges from RO70 to RO3,000. Nur Majan has presence in the entire Gulf region and the company is currently making special watches catering to Kuwaiti customers with that country’s national landmarks in design.

When Sultan tried his hands in watch-making, there were many puritans who said that people will not accept a watch which bears a Gulf-origin tag. However, he proved them wrong by making Nur Majan a household name in the entire Middle East within 11 years. “I always wanted to come up with something new.” For the record, Sultan has come out with a solar-powered cell phone, but had to stop its production due to high cost of molding.

But Sultan is not one who gives up easily. He plans to take up the project again, when things turn to his advantage. Another first for Sultan is the production of land lines phone which resembles Oman’s geographical shape.

Sultan, who was born in Barka, went to India to study English language in 1981 and completed his secondary education from the well-known Kodaikanal International School. Sultan started his own business in Oman in 1999.

Sultan, who has two daughters and a son, keeps himself busy with his magnum opus and values time very much. “One should learn something every hour.” Sultan’s personal collection of cars includes a Ferrari, a Land Rover Sports and a Lamborghini Gerardo, which is his favourite.

Interestingly, he himself is designing his luxurious four-story house.

Sultan’s dream does not end with the electric car. He has already done the spadework to come out with a car which can fly. “I don’t know if you will believe it or not but I would like to make something which is not an aircraft but it would be something like a car which could fly.”

Simple Solution to Sultanate's flood splash.

The Sultanate of Oman is flooded with when ever it rains. Some year the flash flood is more devastating than the others.

This flood occurs because the excessive rain water don't have a place to go. The drains were not constructed when the city was built, this aspect turns the roads into rivers when ever it floods.

The problem is that constructing the drains is too expensive and time consuming. So its not the most effective solution to control flash floods.

We must look at alternatives.

Constructing several small scale lakes in the rain water's path and in valleys will store the excessive rain water and prevent it from spilling and hence flooding.

This method is far cheaper than constructing drains by drilling through the layers and layers of hard rock mountains and already built up roads.

In addition to that there's the advantage of offering year round access to irrigation water, this will reduce the pressure on the government to offer irrigation water and hence reduce their cost.

Lets cooperate to solve the Flash Flooding in Oman and preven another US $4billion loss before it rains again. We can get started by building lakes in places like Al-Khod Dam as shown in the map below:
